Dr. Kaushal is also a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research in Cambridge\, Massachusetts\, and a research fellow at the IZA\, the Institute of Labor Economics in Bonn\, Germany. Dr. Kaushal has written more than fifty (50) peer-reviewed articles\, book chapters\, and publications. In her most recent book Blaming Immigrants: Nationalism and the Economics of Global Movement\, Dr. Kaushal examines the core causes of the rising dissatisfaction towards immigrants and assesses common complaints against immigration. Dr. Kaushal holds a B.A. in economics from Sri Ram College of Commerce in India\, a M.A. in economics from Delhi School of Economics in India\, and a Ph.D. in economics from the Graduate School and University Center\, City University of New York. \nMs. Adams is the owner and managing attorney at Adams Immigration Law\, LLC in Carmel\, Indiana\, where she practices family and employment-based immigration law. She holds a B.S. in public affairs-management from Indiana University and a J.D. from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law. Prior to attending law school\, Ms. Adams worked at the Indiana Department of Education’s Division of Language Minority and Migrant Programs as an education consultant. She also taught English in Saltillo\, Coahuila\, Mexico. Ms. Adams has served on several boards and in leadership capacities\, including at the Immigrant Welcome Center\, Su Casa Columbus\, Mexican Scholarship Fund\, La Plaza\, Hispanic Education Center\, and the Indiana chapter of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”). Ms. Adams is the recipient of several awards\, such as the National Association of Women Business Owners Indianapolis Trailblazer Award in 2019\, the AILA Advocacy Award in 2015\, Indiana Latino Scholarship Fund Award in 2014\, Women of Influence Award in 2013\, and the United Way’s Diversity Advocate Award in 2013. \nAdditionally\, the recipient of the 2019 William R. Laws Human Rights Award and the winners of the 2019 Benjamin M. King Essay and the J. Irwin Miller Art Contests will be honored at the dinner. The theme for this year’s art and essay contests is “You Belong in Columbus.” More details will follow at a later date. \n\n\n\n\n\n
